Truth for November 5
We’re less than two weeks away from the November elections, and you are probably painfully aware that abortion is a big emphasis in this year’s political campaigns.
It can be helpful to remember that abortion is not primarily a political issue. It is a spiritual issue, because at its core is the relationship of the person with God and with others. But God does call us to speak His truth about life. Care Net’s CEO Roland Warren reminds us that while abortion is not primarily a political issue, (quote) “being pro-abundant life does require political involvement, including voting, civil discourse and communication with elected political officials.” (end quote)
It is important for Christian citizens to vote in every election in a way that reflects biblical values. A principle that is unequivocally clear in God’s word is that every human being is created in the image of God for His purpose and His glory. Therefore, even before the moment of conception, every human life is sacred. The willful termination of the life of an innocent preborn human being is a sinful offense against The Holy, Sovereign God.
It is not an unforgiveable offense, though. God accepts the precious shed blood of Jesus as the payment for ALL of our sins, including abortion. There is complete forgiveness and restoration to be found through believing and receiving the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s WONDERFUL truth for all humanity!
