Good Word, Great Growth
Ellie heard about Align through a friend and came to us to learn parenting strategies for her young children. Her relationship with her husband was rocky and she confided that she often felt disconnected from both him and her children.
In a unit called Words Matter, Ellie learned about the importance of the words parents speak to their children… that those words “flow into their ears, settle into their hearts, and impact their sense of self-worth.” The classes equipped Ellie with a plan to help her speak words to her children that would be good for their hearts. As part of that plan, we gave Ellie a Storybook Bible to read to her children.
Ellie started reading that Bible out loud to them and her husband. Plus, Ellie wrote words of affirmation for her husband in a card and gave it to him. She had never done that before… And do you know what God did?
Ellie noticed the relationships between her, her husband, and the children began to sincerely improve. Her husband was really encouraged by Ellie’s card. He told Ellie how “cool” it was and how much he appreciated it. And what’s more, God is filling the little hearts and minds of Ellie’s children with His precious words and stories.
Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”
Ellie’s husband and children are hearing her good words, and God is graciously building up her family. His knowledge applied in our lives always works for His glory and our blessing!
