Growing Great Dads
Jack had a difficult childhood. He began using drugs in his early teens and was in rehab during his senior year of high school.
He also had a girlfriend and a baby boy.
His rehab counselor called to see if we could equip Jack to be a responsible father. We said, “Absolutely!” and told him about our parenting and fatherhood courses.
Jack soon became an eager participant in our parenting class. At his first session, he learned about earning CARE cash by attending each class and completing his homework.
Afterwards, he headed straight for our Baby Boutique with CARE cash in his hand. He exclaimed, “This is pretty cool that I’m going to be able to provide for my son!” He texted his girlfriend to see what their baby needed and then went to the shelves and gathered those things. Jack left with diapers and some diaper ointment that day. He seemed happy and thankful.
Week by week and with each passing lesson, Jack has been growing as a dad and learning about the love of his heavenly Father.
In Psalm 103 verses 2 and 4 we read “Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits…who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.”
