Life-Giving Help in the Diaper Aisle
Trevor was at the grocery store, gazing at the shelves of diapers. Which size did his baby need again? He wasn’t sure. He was also trying to be careful about pricing. Why did diapers have to cost so much?
A grandmother named Eleanor walked by and noticed Trevor’s consternation. She wondered if he was a new young dad.
Someone from Align had spoken at her church on Sunday, and Eleanor had tucked their referral card in her purse. Her heart went out to Trevor and she said, “Hey there. How’s it going?”
They ended up chatting a bit, and Eleanor offered Trevor Align’s card—which he accepted. A few weeks later, he showed up at Align.
“A woman at the grocery store told me about you…” he said. “I’m interested in your parenting classes and baby supplies.”
Trevor was happy to learn that we are a faith-based organization. Turns out he and his wife are newly married and just had a baby. They are believers but had been hurt by their church in the past and stopped going. We encouraged him to give church another try and suggested a few for him to consider.
“I will,” he said. “I want to raise my family in church.”
We’re grateful to Eleanor for putting our card in Trevor’s hands! What started with a need for diapers has become a much richer conversation with this young dad. So friends, as opportunities arise, please let people know we are here for them. We long to become a household name so that anyone who needs our help can find it quickly—free of charge and full of the grace and truth of Jesus.
