Nancy’s Double Blessing
When you think of people a pregnancy center helps through their parenting education courses, you might think of new moms, new dads… people who just had their babies and are first time parents. You’d be right—but there’s more.
There are people in our community who find themselves suddenly—and surprisingly—responsible for an infant. They’re often a little older than traditional new parents, and they haven’t cared for a newborn in years. God sees them, and He has us in place to help them, also. Take for example our client Nancy.
Nancy and her 23-year-old daughter were recently granted custody of a relative’s abandoned baby girl. Nancy loved children but it had been decades since she’d cared for a baby. She needed a parenting refresher—and we were honored to provide it.
Nancy and her daughter faithfully attended our classes and brushed up on many parenting skills like getting your baby to sleep, infant nutrition, and understanding your baby’s different cries. When graduation day rolled around, Nancy seemed doubly happy. She was proud of her daughter for completing these classes with her, and she was thankful for the knowledge and support she received freely to help her care for that precious baby.
Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” We’re so thankful that God sees everyone and everything. He knows people’s plights, and He allows us to be part of His redemptive work in their lives.
