Peer-to-Peer Pursuits
Our new client advocate let out an exasperated sigh as he inspected his computer cords. He was struggling to get the training video to play for their fatherhood class and he sheepishly thanked the group of young dads for their patience.
Mario, one of the seasoned class members, chuckled. He turned to Cody, the newest young dad participant and said, “But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it patiently.” Cody gave him a quizzical look, so Mario continued, “It’s a verse my dad used to say when I was growing up. Romans 8:25.” Mario shared how his father encouraged him to read the Bible every day and how it helps him with his daily struggles. Cody seemed to ponder this but didn’t respond.
The following week, class started out the same way! This time, the advocate’s computer wouldn’t load the video. Cody turned to Mario and quipped, “Got another verse?”
Without hesitation Mario recited, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage…Psalm 27:14.” So impressed by his friend’s faith, sparks of inspiration and hope lit up in Cody’s heart. We offered him a Bible, and he heartily accepted it.
Cody returned to the center a few weeks after the class ended with his newborn son happily snuggling on his arm. “My girlfriend is a bit busy right now, but I still want to keep coming to your classes and learning more. This information is changing my life!”
We’re thankful for tech issues that God turns into triumphs and for peer-to-peer conversations that help our clients grow spiritually. Keep sharing scriptures with your friends, dear listeners. God’s word does not return to Him void. It’s truth that transforms lives!
