Karla was shocked when she found out she was pregnant. She initially thought she would have the baby, but as the realities of single parenting closed in on her, she considered abortion.
“I don’t have much money, I don’t have a stable living situation, and I don’t have anything for a baby,” Karla lamented. Her voice broke and she looked down as tears filled her eyes.
“Worst of all—my mom and I never got along, and I don’t think I’ll be a good mom either.”
Our director sensed that was Karla’s deepest fear, so she shared how God uniquely designed women with the ability to bear children and to mother them in a sacrificial, nurturing way. She pointed out to Karla the maternal qualities she’d already observed in her.
She went on to explain how our prenatal and parenting classes would equip Karla for motherhood.
Karla’s countenance changed from fear-filled to hope-filled. She readily agreed to an ultrasound.
After the ultrasound, she said, “I’m not going to have the abortion. I’m going to have my baby. I can tell you’ll help me be a good mom, and I want to sign up for the classes.”
A safe place. Substantial help. True hope. That’s what clients are offered when they come to Align.
