Call to Him
Our client Elaine had an abortion a long time ago, and struggled for decades with guilt and sadness about it. Our Post-Abortion Services Director Vickie helped Elaine go through the Bible study “Surrendering the Secret”. Elaine’s relationship with Jesus really blossomed as she began to understand the enormity of what Christ did for her on the cross, and how deeply and completely she was forgiven by Him.
At the conclusion of the Bible study, Elaine wanted to be baptized. Vickie said that although Elaine had been through a lot in her life – beyond the abortion – Elaine’s entire testimony on the day of her baptism was about how God had healed her from her many abortion wounds … how she had received His forgiveness and had been set free from the heavy bondage she felt for decades. In fact, Elaine was so exuberant with joy at her baptism that she nearly shouted how free and uninhibited she felt. She said, “Jesus has become real to me in ways He never was before.”
Jeremiah 33:2-3 says in part, “Thus says the Lord who made the earth…the Lord is his name: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Elaine, in her sin and shame, called to the Almighty Lord. Through her study of His word, He answered her – and told her of the great freedom that Jesus purchased for her with His blood. She experienced joy in her relationship with Jesus when she didn’t think such joy was possible for her.
Whatever you or I might be struggling with today – we can acknowledge the authority of God over our lives and call to Him. There are so MANY great and hidden things we have not known that He is able to show us. We have ALL been created FOR Him.
