Darkness to Light

Darkness to Light

Summer is finally here! It’s time to put away the heavy parkas and don the shorts. After a wet and chilly spring, I am excited to sit back, sip a tall glass of lemonade, and soak in the rays of the sun. Every change of season reminds us that better days are ahead.

Unfortunately, for some, life can feel like one long winter filled with harsh blizzards and endless nights. This is often the case with many of our clients.

Kimberly was one of those people. She took a deep breath and slumped into a chair at her abortion recovery group. Kimberly pulled the strings of her black hoodie tighter around her head, an outer sign that she was feeling cloaked in darkness.

She had been through the study before but was still having trouble processing her emotions, so she decided to come back. Her grief was still raw from uncovering layers of buried pain and questions. However, learning about Jesus’ compassion was a balm to her soul, so she returned.

With every passing week, Kimberly began to step more fully into the light of God’s truth. On the last day of class, she straightened her new royal blue blazer and joyfully walked out the door and into a new season. For the first time, Kimberly felt the warmth of Christ’s forgiveness and freedom.

Isaiah 60:1 says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.”

Let us bask in the light of God’s presence and praise Him for being with us in every season!
