Heart-Changing Truth
A young pregnant couple met with our director. They had made up their minds. The young mom said, “We are too young to be parents.” And the young dad added, “Besides, it’s not a baby yet.” Our director said, “I hear you. Let’s look at it from a different perspective.” She went on to tell them that God loved both of them before the foundation of the world. That His desire was for them to be born physically so they could be reborn spiritually into a relationship with Him. And that He wants the same for their baby.
The young mom looked down. “We’re Christians,” she said, agreeing with what our director shared. The dad said again, “But, uh…it isn’t alive yet, right?” Our director showed them a model of a developing baby, similar in age to theirs, and said, “Your baby’s heart has been beating for several weeks.” They thought about that for a bit, and then the young dad stood up and said, “Well, we cannot have an abortion if it’s already alive. We need to have this baby!” Soon afterwards we provided an ultrasound for them, which confirmed their decision. They are now taking our prenatal classes.
John 16:13 says, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth.” We believe the Holy Spirit worked powerfully to guide these young believers – through spoken truth, a model of a developing baby, and an ultrasound image of a living, moving human being. God’s truth touches the hearts of people and helps them change their minds to align with what is right and real. We have all been created for Him.
