His Impact on Her Decision
Something the Lord helps us see first-hand from time to time is the tremendous impact the father of the baby can have on the mother’s decision to carry the child to term.
Two client stories come to mind: One client, who went through our post-abortion Bible study several months ago, shared that she chose abortion so her boyfriend would stay. Her boyfriend eventually left anyway, and she grieved her abortion alone. On the other side of town, a young woman and man – fairly new in their relationship together – learned she was pregnant. The young mom was scared he would leave and she’d be alone. The father of the baby was initially undecided about what to do. As they talked, they realized together what an important decision they faced, and they both wanted to carry the baby to term. We could tell during their ultrasound appointment that the father of the baby had a big impact on this decision for life.
Ephesians 6:4 says, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” We are intentional about serving young dads.
