Impress Them Upon Your Children

Impress Them Upon Your Children

I was at a church’s missions fair tending a table display for Align. The highlights at our display for most people are the fetal development models. The small set shows the approximate size and development of a preborn baby when the mom is in her 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th week of pregnancy. The large set shows the same for preborn babies when the mom is in her 14th, 18th, 24th, and 28th week of pregnancy. These models look like little dolls, and they are typically especially appealing to children.

At this church, a little 2-year-old girl stood by the baby models, carefully picked up each one, held it in her arms close to her chest and sang “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” to it while she rocked back and forth. It was wonderful to behold! Her parents did not rush her. They let her take her time and sing to each one. I could have hugged those parents!

It’s so important to teach our children about God and the sacredness of human life ethic He has given us. In Deuteronomy 6:7-9, Moses gives us ways to impress God’s truth on the hearts of our children: Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road… Tie them as symbols on your hands…Write them on the doorframes of your houses…” Thank you in advance, friends, for talking with children about the sacredness of human life, for honoring human life in your own daily routines for them to see, and for working to make God’s heart for human life visible to children in your homes and in your towns.

Children need to know God’s truth for life. And so do we.
