It’ A Baby
From time to time on this program we talk about the importance of the words we use as we champion the sacredness of human life. We recently spent time with a young couple where this concept bubbled up once again.
A young mom and dad were in need of support as they faced their unintended pregnancy. They found us through the internet, and scheduled an ultrasound appointment. We showed them a very active 10 week old baby. They were amazed at how much they could see! The mom told us how thankful she was for all the resources we could provide, and we appreciated that. Then the dad said something that reminded us of the power of our words. He said, “I like how you call it a baby. I’ve been calling it an it.”
Our truthful use of the word “baby” resonated with this young father, and he took notice. We don’t know how much his heart changed toward his child in that moment, but we believe there was a change for the better.
The Bible says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21. Friends, we have the ability to direct the power of our tongues toward LIFE.
