“We decided to keep the baby but need a lot of help…”
Jillian’s life was tumultuous. She came from a broken home, barely saw her dad, and wasn’t speaking to her mom. She’d just lost her job and was worried about keeping up with rental payments for her small apartment.
When her pregnancy test showed positive, Jillian said, “This is just too much! I can’t afford to take care of a baby, and I don’t know what my boyfriend will think.”
In the next hour, we shared the practical ways we could help and, most importantly, how Jesus wanted to help. Jillian was very open, and when we shared the gospel with her, she readily gave her life to Jesus.
A week later, Jillian returned for an ultrasound with her boyfriend Blake. They were mesmerized by the image of their baby wiggling his arms and legs, and Jillian said, “We decided to keep the baby, but we need a lot of help.”
The director reviewed our services and explained the value of prenatal classes. Jillian said, “I’m definitely taking them, and Blake and I talked about wanting to go to church.”
Surprised, our director asked Blake about his spiritual beliefs. Blake said, “I used to believe in God, but kind of fell away. I’ve been thinking about Him recently, though.”
The director said, “He’s thinking about you too. Would you like to hear how you can know Him personally?”
Blake nodded, and before long he too placed his trust in Jesus. When the director gave them a copy of the Jesus Storybook Bible, Blake welled up with tears. “This is the same one I had as a kid,” he said.
Jillian comes to our prenatal classes each week, and Blake comes when he’s able. They’re both learning to pray and read the Bible, and they’re looking for a home church.
Your financial and prayer partnership enables us to serve young couples like these — providing the practical and spiritual support they desperately need. Thank you for helping!
