She Brought Her Dad
We love celebrating Father’s Day—not only to honor and encourage all the new young dads we get to serve, but also to applaud the noble fathers parenting daughters who are of child-bearing age. There’s one particular dad I have in mind today… the dad who came along with his daughter to her ultrasound appointment with us.
We’re used to moms, sisters, and best friends coming along with our ultrasound clients. It’s a rare thing—at least for us—for a client to bring her dad to her ultrasound scan.
But this client had asked him, “Will you come with me, Daddy?”
And his answer was yes.
It was an honor to show them a healthy 8-week-old baby with a strong heartbeat. We could tell the client wanted to be excited about the pregnancy, but she was single and without medical insurance at the moment. Having her dad there meant a lot to her and boosted her courage. He nodded with approval as she took information about our prenatal classes.
Proverbs 21:21 says, “Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness and honor.” Whether he realized it or not, this dad pursued righteousness in supporting his daughter as she sought out truthful information about her pregnancy and parenting. His presence in that ultrasound room conveyed his kindness toward her and the baby—his grandchild. In doing so, he found life and so much more.
Thank you, Lord, for fathers who pursue righteousness. Bless dads—those who are rejoicing this Father’s Day, and also those who are hurting. You are the Father of them all, and You are the one who gives them LIFE!
