Held in Their Hands

Held in Their Hands

There’s something especially eye opening about being able to hold something wonderful in your hands.

Recently, a young mom client and her husband came in for an ultrasound. They had suffered a miscarriage a few years ago, so they were nervous about this pregnancy. The ultrasound revealed a beautiful 9-week-old baby. After the scan, we showed them our little 9-week fetal model. They took turns holding that little model in their hands and said how amazed they were to see the baby’s approximate size and level of development.

A short while later, another young couple came in for an ultrasound. This was their third child, and they had not had an ultrasound with their first two children. Their baby measured 14 weeks old. After the scan, we showed them our 14-week-old fetal model, and they wanted to hold it in their hands. They, too, were utterly amazed at how developed their baby was at that age.

Ultrasound scans that they can see with their eyes…tiny fetal models that they can hold in their hands…. We are so thankful for God’s provision of these tools!

Psalm 139:15 says, “My frame was not hidden from You, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.” Friends, how kind of God to give us a glimpse—through ultrasounds and fetal models—of the miraculous, intricately woven baby…hidden to us for a brief time at first, but never hidden to Him.
