We Are Never Alone
When I was a child, a neighbor boy invited my siblings and I to visit on Halloween night. We were a bit apprehensive since he lived in a secluded house surrounded by a dense forest at the top of a hill. As we approached his spooky driveway, the darkness closed in, and our fear quickened with every step. My little sister grabbed my hand, which bolstered my courage. Together, we climbed up the hill and sighed when we realized that the house wasn’t so scary after all.
Having someone walk beside you can make all the difference. This is very evident in the lives of many of our clients.
Skylar shared that she was nervous about her pregnancy and wasn’t sure she could handle taking care of a baby. She asked for information on all of her options. Skylar explained that she had some medical issues, and her doctor had told her that she might never become pregnant, so the pregnancy was certainly a surprise.
Skylar’s fiancé came with her to the ultrasound appointment and squeezed her hand as they marveled at their preborn baby’s beating heart. After the scan, the father stated that they should have the baby and affirmed that he wasn’t going anywhere.
The couple was delighted that the baby was due in October, which was when they had planned to get married. Although she felt scared at first, Skylar’s fears dissolved as she realized she wasn’t alone. Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Our prayer is that this young family will feel God’s love surround them as they start their parenting journey together. After all, we are never alone!
