Kindness That Empowers

Kindness That Empowers

Our client Jenna was scheduled for a pregnancy test and ultrasound but had yet to arrive. When the nurse manager reached her, Jenna said she was having a rough day and was running late. We waited for her and encouraged her to keep her appointment. Jenna finally arrived.

To say Jenna was having an awful day was an understatement. It was more like she was having an awful year. She had been evicted from her apartment, lost all her possessions, was fired from her job, and ended up sleeping on a relative’s couch. To make matters worse, Jenna went to a party a few months ago and woke up not remembering anything and feared the worst. She was already a single mom, and the last thing she wanted was to be pregnant again. Jenna shared she had accepted Jesus into her heart when she was younger and deep down, she knew abortion was wrong.

Her pregnancy test was positive. She was scared, embarrassed, and overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the gestational age of the baby lined up with the date of the party. She  couldn’t believe she was pregnant under such dire circumstances. We held Jenna’s hand and prayed for her. We asked God to give her wisdom and to care for her needs.

Jenna came back the very next day and told us she had decided to carry the baby to term! She hugged and thanked our staff members, letting them know their kindness had helped empower her to make the difficult decision to keep her baby! We gave her referrals for housing and counseling services, and she’s slated to begin prenatal classes later next month.  Jenna’s new year is looking much brighter. Thank You, Jesus!

Happy New Year to you from your friends at Align Life Ministries.
