She Folded and Unfolded

She Folded and Unfolded

Alexis was considering abortion when she found out she was pregnant. She had heard about Align and made an appointment to see us. We offered her a pregnancy test and ultrasound, but to her, it was too much to think about at one time. She recently had a miscarriage and felt like she was still recovering from that. Plus, she had just broken up with the father of the baby. She assumed she would have little to no support from her family and was hesitant to tell them about her situation.

She did mention that she was living with her aunt, so her client advocate encouraged her to tell her aunt about the baby. Alexis went home and did just that. To her surprise, her aunt was incredibly supportive. This encouraged Alexis to return for an ultrasound.

After seeing the heartbeat, Alexis fell in love with the new little life growing inside of her.

We gave her one of our “new mom” gift bags, and Alexis was especially delighted with the little baby outfit inside the bag. She took it out, unfolded it, looked at it and smiled, and then refolded it—took it out, unfolded it, smiled and then refolded it again… She did that about five times! She just kept smiling and couldn’t get enough of looking at that little baby garment!

Shortly thereafter, Alexis started taking our prenatal classes. They are helping her learn valuable parenting skills for infants, they are helping her learn about Jesus, and…they are helping her eventually get more baby clothes for her precious child!

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25 to not be anxious about our life, what we will eat or what we will drink, nor about our body, what we will put on. I wonder if God used that little baby outfit to help assure Alexis that He would provide for her baby—and for her—and that He sees her and is with her.

Could we look at the clothes in our closet that same way?
