A Picture of Loving Discipline
One of the many essential parenting lessons we teach our clients is how to lovingly discipline their children. Some clients realize they were not corrected in a healthy way by their parents, and they want things to be different with their own children. A young mom who’s currently learning about discipline recently told us, “I am determined as a parent to break the ineffective parenting cycles from previous generations in my family! I’m going to continue parenting my children in a healthy, affirming and effective manner.”
We always desire to share Jesus with our clients and God has embedded spiritual principles all over the place in parenting lessons. Case in point: a parent’s loving discipline of their child is a reflection of the fact that God lovingly corrects His children. Deuteronomy 8:5 says: “Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.” And Proverbs 3:11-12 adds, “My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD or loathe His rebuke. For whom the LORD loves He disciplines…”
Our clients can see themselves as the parent as they discipline their children. At the same time, they also have the opportunity to think of themselves as a child, with God as their heavenly Father. Please pray for them as they endeavor to become great parents to their children, and as they learn what it means to be a child of God.
We each have the opportunity to become children of God and to grow from His loving discipline. To learn more, please visit peacewithGod.net. We have all been created for Him.
