Adoption Misconceptions – Part 2

Adoption Misconceptions – Part 2

We’ve been taking a look at misconceptions some pregnant moms may have about the option of adoption.  Last week, we talked about the thought “If I give my baby up, that means I don’t love him enough.” Feel free to check out that episode on our blog site. Today, let’s look at the thought, “If I choose adoption, my baby will end up with a family that I do not approve of.”

Did you know that the expectant mother gets to choose who will parent her baby?  When she decides to pursue adoption for her child, the agency or attorney will provide her with profile books of hopeful adoptive parents and families. She is able to look through each book to explore what they enjoy, what their families are like, what their home and town are like, and how their days are spent. The profile books give her a glimpse into the lives of each hopeful adoptive parent to help her decide. It might comfort her to know that she has a hand in selecting her baby’s new family.

Acts 17:26 says, “…He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.”  The young mom considering adoption can rest in the fact that ultimately, it’s the Lord working through precious her to carry out His good plans – both for her and for her baby. We have all been created for Christ.
