Draw Near and Do Not Fear

Draw Near and Do Not Fear

At the beginning of this brand new year, I have a story of answered prayer to share with you. One of our pregnant clients had been very worried about giving birth to her baby because of labor and delivery issues with her first child. She shared those fears with her client advocate, and they prayed together about that in the weeks leading up to the baby’s arrival.

I am happy to tell you that the client had her baby and all went well! She told us later that she knew God answered her prayers. She said, “I felt God’s presence with me so strongly during this labor and delivery. I’m thankful for your support in praying with me, and I’m thankful to God for answering us!”

We love how this client faced her fears by drawing near to God in prayer, and that she sensed God’s presence with her in that delivery room. Her baby’s journey from the womb into the room was covered in prayer, and she was mindful of the power and goodness of God from the moment her baby took his first breath. What a wonderful environment for that baby to enter.

Psalm 73:28 says, “But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.”  Friends, as we welcome this new year – our view of the future might be tainted with fear because of experiences we’ve had in the past. We can meditate on this scripture – and choose to draw near to the Lord. We can make Him our refuge as we trust Him and see Him for who He is and how He does things. Then, as we experience His presence in 2021, we can tell others of His works. We have all been Created for Christ.
