Equipping for Good and Working Within

Equipping for Good and Working Within

A young woman and her boyfriend were living together when they found out they were pregnant and started coming to our prenatal classes. They had made some poor choices and were facing some tough circumstances. But they are believers in Jesus and showed incredible commitment to attending their classes with us each week.

As the months went by, we saw God work powerfully in their lives, drawing them closer to Him and closer to each other. For example, together, they took steps to improving their mental and physical health. At one point the young mom lost her job, so the young dad got a second job and has been incredibly supportive of her. They began be even more mindful of others. For example, when their client advocate was out for a family emergency, they were genuinely concerned, and wanted to be sure we passed along their sincere thoughts and prayers.

And then, when their due date was just around the corner, they announced in our lobby – in front of volunteers and other young moms – that they were having a baby boy, and they were getting engaged! There was lots of rejoicing in our center that evening.

Hebrews 13:20-21 says in part, “Now may the God of peace…equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ…” God has been equipping this young couple with good things so that they might do His will – AND SIMULTANEOUSLY, He is working in them that which is pleasing in His sight. His fingerprints are all over their lives and the life of their baby. If you think about it – in what ways is God equipping you with good things, and working in You that which is pleasing? I think about those things for my own life. He sees you. Your life is precious to Him, and He has purpose for you in His kingdom. We have all been created for Christ.
