Every Need Provided
In our prenatal classes, small groups of parents watch practical videos like “Emotions of Pregnancy,” “Bonding with Your Unborn Baby,” and “Simple Infant Care.” They also form friendships with each other.
In one class, two of the moms became unlikely friends. One was older with teenagers and came from a stable living situation. She was pregnant with a “plot twist” baby, as they say…it was a pregnancy they were happy about but they were not expecting. The other mom was younger. This was her first time giving birth. She was between jobs and working hard to earn baby furniture and supplies through our program.
When the older mom learned of the younger mom’s need for a bassinet, she said, “I have an extra one,” and she brought it in the following week. Over the weeks, the two pregnant moms swapped stories, shared laughs, and even shared their regrets about prior abortions which they had both experienced.
A wise staff member at Align once said, “God is never up to just one thing at a time.” In this case, He equipped these two moms for the arrival of their babies. He helped them earn supplies to care for their babies. And in the midst of all that, He also blessed them with the sweetness of genuine friendship.
This story helps me see Philippians 4:19 in a new light. It says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” I added the emphasis to the word “every.” He supplies not just one need, but every need. He’s that kind to our clients. And…He’s that kind to you.
