Happy Father’s Day
Tomorrow is Father’s Day, and we are glad to celebrate dads! We have the privilege of serving local young fathers, and we meet them in all kinds of ways:
- Some of them arrive with their pregnant wives or girlfriends to provide moral support during their pregnancy test or their ultrasound.
- Some come for parenting classes – wanting to be good dads and willing to work hard and learn the skills they need
- Other dads come to us for baby supplies – stopping in to pick up those bags of free diapers, wipes and formula on a weekly basis for 6 weeks.
Whatever the case, we welcome them in. We have godly men here at Align Pregnancy Services, who volunteer as male client advocates; willing to meet and pray for these young dads regularly.
This Father’s Day season, we’ve been giving chocolate bars with special labels on them to our male clients. On the front of the candy bar, it says “Happy Father’s Day” and the back is filled with encouraging words for them, including the message “To the world you are a Dad. To your family, you are the world.” For some of these dads, that chocolate bar is the very first Father’s Day gift they ever receive. Even though their babies have not yet been born, they are “a dad” already Good parenting begins long before the baby arrives.
God promises in Malachi 4:6 that “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children.” We see Him doing that work even now, and we praise Him for it. So to all you dads out there –Happy Father’s Day! God really loves you! Your family really needs you. We have all been Created for Christ.
