Love is Patient
Madison just found out she was pregnant. She wanted to have an abortion, but was too far along for the abortion pill, and she didn’t have the money to get a surgical abortion. Someone told her about Align, so she stopped in. We were glad she did.
We talked with Madison about our free prenatal education classes, including lessons like setting up prenatal care for herself and her baby, healthy eating for two, and how to navigate pregnancy emotions and mood swings. Maddie was surprised at the quality of information available and agreed to enroll.
Her schedule allowed her to join a class that had 3 other pregnant moms in it – all of whom are believers in Jesus! In the weeks that followed, Maddie’s client advocate and her three classmates poured out love and encouragement on Maddie. They prayed over her and her preborn baby each week.
It’s been amazing to see the transformation in Maddie’s thinking and attitude! She used to resent being pregnant and wanted an abortion. Now, she’s delighted to be a mom. She’s gratefully accepting of her pregnancy, tenderly loving toward her preborn baby, and sincerely appreciative of the other women who have been cheering her on.
Her story has God’s fingerprints all over it, and reminds me of 1 Corinthians 13:4 which says, “Love is patient, love is kind…” God was patient with Maddie, even when she chased after something that would egregiously harm her and her child, not help them. God was kind to Maddie, arranging schedules and positioning her near people who understood what she was going through and who could encourage her and pray for her without judgment.
In what ways have you experienced God’s patience and kindness in your life today? Think of them as examples and evidence of His life-giving love for you.
