Model Wonder that Leads to Life
We love sharing our table displays with the community and churches – especially when we get to connect with children and show them our fetal development baby models, which are lifelike, true-to-size models of pre-born babies at various ages in the womb. Kids are curious to see what a baby looks like before he’s born. They love holding and squeezing the models and showing them to their parents. Their comments can be pretty cute, too. One little boy looked at me and declared, “I was NEVER that small!”
We’ll often ask them trivia questions about the models to help them think about the significance of that preborn baby and the God who made him. For example – we’ll show a child the 8-week model, which is when the baby is about the size of a kidney bean and ask “When you were this little in your mommy’s belly – if we watched you long enough, do you think we could tell if you were right-handed or left-handed?” Sometimes they shake their heads no, but we let them have another guess because the correct answer is yes.
We share such info freely with children to help them learn truth about God and about the preborn babies He’s knitting together. We believe the Lord uses that knowledge to help children grow in the WONDER of Him, which leads to a healthy, righteous fear of Him. Proverbs 19:23 says, “Fear of the Lord leads to life, bringing security and protection from harm.” Life – security – protection – these are things we desperately want for each and every child. Who knew a few minutes with a little baby model could be so impactful?
