Our Help Comes From Him
Sara and Steve are a teenage couple, living with Steve’s parents. When they found out Sara was pregnant, they were shocked and unprepared. Due to various circumstances, they felt Sara had to get an abortion. But, they didn’t have the money to do it.
One of Steve’s relatives knew of us and suggested Sara make an appointment to talk. She did. During our initial visit she said multiple times, “I just don’t know what I am going to do!” She was hungry for truthful information and welcomed our ultrasound offer. The earliest opening we had was at one of our locations in a different town. Sara wanted it but had no way to get there. Someone volunteered to drive her.
When ultrasound day arrived, Sara saw her tiny 10-week-old baby on the screen. Afterwards, she seemed noticeably happier. She had decided to carry her baby to term. “I had a feeling this ultrasound would help me make my decision!” she said. “I’m realizing there is lots of help available for me.”
There IS lots of help for Sara. Although she may not see it yet, we know her “help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” – like it says in Psalm 121:2. God is the One who worked through Sara & Steve’s financial situation to help them avoid the pain of abortion. He’s also the One who raised up a volunteer to give Sara a ride to her ultrasound. He is her real source of help, and He is the source of help for you and me, too. Any time, day or night, we can lift up our eyes and be reminded of where our true help comes from. We have all been created for Him.
