Resting in God’s Sovereignty for Life
Anna had a history of miscarriages. She came to us for a pregnancy test, and shed a few tears when she saw it was positive. Her living situation wasn’t the best, but she longed for a baby and hoped this pregnancy would be viable.
A week later, she arrived for her ultrasound, understandably nervous. Our medical team has wonderful way of helping our clients feel at ease. They chatted with Anna before her scan. They talked with her about the Lord, what He’s like, what He’s done for each one of us. They assured her we can always rest in God’s plan, even when we don’t understand what it is.
They turned out the lights and the scan began. When our client saw that little beating heart, she cried tears of relief. It was our honor to show her an 8-week-old living preborn baby. She accepted our offer of pictures from the scan, and plans to surprise her family with those pictures at Christmas. She signed up to begin our prenatal classes in the new year.
Lamentations 3:37 says, “Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it?” Those words can be hard to process in the aftermath of something dreadful, like a miscarriage. But we focus on who is doing the commanding – the Lord our God. He is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. He’s the One who went through excruciating pain and death so He could be with us and we with Him forever – THAT Lord is the sovereign One who commands all things in our lives. He is more than worthy of our trust in every situation.
