Sanctity of Human Life Sunday 2023: Born to Be Reborn
For nearly 50 years, a key reason for celebrating Sanctity of Human Life Sunday was to remind people, shackled by the Supreme Court’s Roe vs Wade pro-abortion decision, of what is unshakably true: that human beings are created by God, in His image, to be in a loving relationship with Him. We are born to be reborn.
Abortion, on the other hand, is humanity’s willful destruction of a preborn human life. It usurps the authority that belongs to God alone, and egregiously misses the mark of what God intends.
In these post-Roe times, we celebrate the Lord lifting the scourge of abortion from our nation while recognizing our mission to proclaim the gospel and champion the sacredness of human life is far from finished. Voices that champion abortion seem to roar louder with each passing election, and confusion about the intrinsic value of humanity abounds. In the midst of the clamor and seemingly increasing chaos, what is God calling us to do? Are we to shrink back, lay low, keep quiet?
No!
At Align, God is calling us to not shrink back, but to boldly advance according to Isaiah 54:2, “Enlarge the space of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back, lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.”
- Enlarge the space of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide… We believe He’s calling us to grow. We have seen a significant increase in our client load this year at all locations, with our Lancaster city location clients nearly doubling in the past 12 months. We’ll soon be moving our Align Pregnancy Services Lancaster center into to a new, larger location in downtown Lancaster city. We’re grateful for this growth and our eyes are on Him as He brings more.
- Lengthen your cords… We believe He’s calling us to reach farther into the community to impact more people. We want Align to become a household name, so that people will know about our services and refer others freely to us for help. We’re excited about the new community relations effort God has formed at Align to expand our presence at community events so we can showcase the generous heart of God to draw more people to Him.
- Strengthen your stakes…We believe God wants to have a deeper impact in peoples’ lives through our ministry. We’re excited to begin using a brand new, evidence-based parenting curriculum with our clients that also includes a section about the gospel as part of each lesson. We’re grateful for increased opportunities to minister to those who’ve experienced abortion— whether it was several decades ago or just last month.
We trust you will see these times as a momentous season in our nation. Roe has fallen, and God is on the move. Despite the opposition, He is not shrinking back and neither are we.
He’s unstoppable, and His vision and plans for reaching people through Align and through you are unstoppable as well.
