The Kindest Person
Carla, a young, pregnant mom, shared her difficult past with our volunteer advocate.
“I’ve been in a relationship with an abusive boyfriend. I’ve done a short time in prison, and I even lost my children to foster care for a while.”
Carla had regained custody of her children and came to us for help with her current pregnancy. She said, “I have a new boyfriend now. We’ve been together for over a year and he’s the kindest person in my life.”
When we asked Carla about her spiritual beliefs, she said, “I started reading the Bible in prison, and I’m believing in God little by little. I think He’s helping me get my life back on track.”
We asked if she ever invited Jesus to be her Savior and Lord, and Carla said, “No, I’ve never heard about that.” So, we explained the gospel to Carla—how we’ve all sinned and fallen short, and how Jesus died in our place and has good plans for our lives.
Tears welled in Carla’s eyes, and she prayed to accept the Lord.
Titus 3:4-5 says, “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy…”
