The Dinner Club

The Dinner Club

School is now in session, and the air seems thick with mixed emotions of excitement and fear. My daughter was particularly nervous about entering high school because several of her friends had changed schools. She dreaded the thought of eating lunch alone. However, when she entered the noisy cafeteria on the first day, other freshman girls welcomed her to their table, which greatly alleviated her anxiety. Sometimes, a friendly face and common ground are all it takes to encourage people in their journeys.

This reminds me of four couples who recently took prenatal classes together. Each couple is about the same age, and all their babies are due around the same time. None of them knew each other prior to taking the class, but they quickly bonded.

The class was led by a volunteer couple who are passionate about the Lord and His principles for parenting. They love discipling young couples, and often the man instructed the guys in one room while his wife taught the women in another room.

After class, the group often stayed behind and chatted in the Baby Boutique. They shared what they learned and encouraged each other. One night, the group continued their lively conversation in the parking lot and remained even after the staff left!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

These wholesome interactions have made a lasting impact on these precious young couples and their babies. It’s beautiful to see God bring people together in their parenting journeys.
