Grow Like a Pumpkin
Pumpkin season is here! This popular orange squash is the most prominent plant in my garden. However, I never actually intended to plant it. It was a delightful surprise that sprung up a couple of months ago. In just a few short weeks, the plant grew from a tiny sprout to creeping vines. In fact, pumpkin vines can grow as much as six inches a day!
This rapid growth reminds me of how quickly God’s love can take root in a person’s life. This is evident in the life of Gianna.
When Gianna first came to our center for a free pregnancy test, she shared that she did not have any religious beliefs, but she allowed the Director to pray for her at the end of the appointment.
When she returned for an ultrasound, she stated, “Before this, I didn’t believe in God but now God is the only thing I can hold on to. I don’t know how to pray, so I just talk.”
The ultrasound appointment went well. Gianna expressed relief and said she was less anxious than before. When the director asked if she could pray for her again, Gianna eagerly accepted and shared that the prayers deeply touched her because she felt so cared for and loved.
This feeling prompted her to start prenatal classes right away. Gianna is excited to learn about her preborn baby and curious about the Lord.
Gianna’s pregnancy opened her eyes and softened her heart towards God. By the end of the month, Gianna started reading the Bible and praying every day!
Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” How exciting to see how much God can do in such a short time… and He’s not done yet!
