She’s Excited to Read Her New Bible
A young mom named Alexandra came to us and asked for a pregnancy test – which turned out to be positive. She was 18 years old, single, working full time, and not really sure what to do next.
When we offered her information about her options for the pregnancy, she honed right in on the option of adoption. She explained that her boyfriend was pressuring her to have an abortion, but she was far enough along in her pregnancy that she’d already felt the baby kick. “I am not having an abortion,” she said. “As soon as I felt the baby moving, I knew I couldn’t end the pregnancy. ” She promptly enrolled in our prenatal education classes.
As we continued to chat with Alexandra, we asked her about her spiritual beliefs. At first, she brushed off the question, saying, “Oh, I don’t really know. I think there’s something bigger than me out there…something that made the world…” Well, before she left, we gave her one of our gift bags for new moms, which had a Bible in it. Alexandra looked through the bag, and immediately saw the Bible. She took it out, held it up, and with a big smile she said “Seriously! A Bible! I’ve been wanting one! I’m really excited to read this.”
Our theme this year is In the beginning, God from Genesis 1:1. In the beginning, God knew Alexandra and her baby, and He loved them both dearly. He is drawing them both to Himself through these circumstances. We’re eager to see God bless her deeply through His Word and her time with us.
