Your Consolations Cheer My Soul
Hi – this is Julie – I’m on staff with SVPS. As you may know, one of the services we offer clients who are struggling with unintended pregnancies are free ultrasounds. Sometimes the clients are nervous when they arrive for their ultrasound appointment, and we’ve noticed there can be different reasons for that.
Sometimes clients are anxious for what they WILL see. When the image of a baby’s body and the pulsing light of the heartbeat appear on the screen – it’s hard to deny that the pregnancy is real and that they have become parents. Other times, the clients are anxious about what they might NOT see. Such was the case with Samantha.
When Samantha learned she was pregnant, she kept that knowledge away from her heart, so to speak. She had experienced a number of miscarriages in the past, and was bracing herself for the worst this time around. But there on the ultrasound screen she saw an 11 week-old baby with a strong beating heart. Her eyes watered and her nose began to run as she tried not to cry. She said, “I really haven’t let myself think about this baby… until now. I have so much to think about now.” Samantha decided to enroll in our prenatal classes, and we really look forward to traveling this journey with her. Even though she has little support from her family and the father of the baby, the Lord is seeing to it that she will not walk through this pregnancy alone.
Psalm 94:19 says, “When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” SVPS is a place where the anxiety of our clients meets the truth and lovingkindness of Jesus, such that souls might be cheered and redirected to Christ. Please pray for Samantha, that she and her little one will choose to trust Jesus as their Savior. We have all been created for Him.
