Well, If God Provides a Car…
Our client Liz was pregnant. She and her boyfriend were down to their last dime – almost literally. They had a small apartment, but their car had broken down and was beyond repair. “I’m so scared,” Liz said. “My boyfriend just got a new job, but without a car it seems impossible to make things work.”
Our advocate prayed silently, “This does feel impossible, Lord. How can I help her?” She sensed she was to keep listening, so she did. Liz unloaded lots of other woes and said, “I don’t believe in God at all, so I know there’s no help coming from Him.”
Our advocate explained our breadth of services and asked, “Can I pray for you before you leave?” Liz agreed, and they ended the session in prayer – especially regarding the car situation. Liz said, “Well if God provides a car, I might have to reconsider whether or not He’s real.”
The next week Liz said, “Guess what! My uncle let us borrow his spare car until we save enough money to get our own!” The advocate said, “We prayed about that! God loves you, and He wants you to know He’s with you through all of this.”
Matthew 7:11 says, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
God IS real. He has good gifts in store for us when we pray.
